Crystal Energy Storage Project
Crystal Energy Storage LP (the “Proponent”), along with its development partner Baseload Power LP, is developing the Crystal Energy Storage Project (the “Project”) in the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley, Ontario.
The proposed Project is a lithium-ion battery energy storage system connected to Hydro One Network Inc.’s existing transmission electrical infrastructure. The Project is proposed to have a Nameplate Capacity of up to 300 megawatts (“MW”) and will have a 4 hour duration capacity. The Project will consist of battery storage enclosures, inverters, medium voltage transformers, gravel internal access roads, electrical collector and communication cabling, and a small transmission transformer substation.
A conceptual layout of the Project site is shown below however the final site plan and layout will be determined through additional consultation, engineering and studies.
Provincial Needs
The Independent Electricity System Operator (the “IESO”) is a not-for-profit entity established by the Government of Ontario that manages the Province's power system so that Ontarians receive power when and where they need it by planning and preparing for the Province’s future electricity needs.
After more than a decade of strong electricity supply, the IESO forecasts that due to a number of factors, including economic and population growth, manufacturing electrification, and the retirement of the Pickering Nuclear generating facility, the Province is approaching a period of significant electricity need. To address these needs, the IESO is competitively procuring 4,000 MW of electrical capacity in the near term through a number of long-term requests for proposals, including the LT1 RFP.
The Project is being developed in response to the LT1 RFP and if successful, the Project will help reinforce the Provincial and local electrical system now and in the future.

Public Engagement
We are committed to engaging with stakeholders throughout all phases of the Project, from early development to decommissioning. Stakeholders who we will be engaging with include but are not limited to:
Owners or occupants of properties located adjacent to the Project Site;
Municipal government stakeholders, including, the mayor and council, Chief Administrative Officer and the planning, building and public works departments;
Indigenous communities who may have an interest in the Project;
Provincial and Federal Government Ministries, including the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks and the Ontario Ministry of Energy;
Local Conservation Authority;
Industry groups;
Local businesses and Business Industry Associations;
Local Fire Department;
Utilities;
IESO;
Members of the public and Community Organizations; and
Other individuals or parties not already identified above that identify an interest in the Project and who will be directly impacted by the Project.

Public Community Meeting:
In accordance with the IESO LT1 RFP, a Public Community Meeting will be held for the Project, the details of which are outlined below. At the Public Community Meeting information about the Project will be provided, including, the name, and nameplate capacity of the Project, a scale map showing the boundaries of the Project Site and the location of the Connection Point and the Connection Line. At the meeting team members will be present to engage with stakeholders, receive feedback and to answer questions about the Project. The Public Community Meeting will include a question and answer portion so that members of the public have an opportunity to ask questions about the Project. Following the meeting, a report summarizing the Public Community Meeting will be prepared and a copy of the report will be posted on this Project website. This report will document the information that was provided at the meeting, the number of people who attended and a summary of feedback and questions asked and other applicable information.
